Chinatown
May 19th, 7pm
Chinatown
This 1974 neo-noir film masterfully weaves a complex story from what begins as a seemingly simple request from a wife to a private eye: catch her philandering husband in the act.

Set in 1920s Los Angeles, with the historic water rights deals that helped to carve Los Angeles out of the desert as one of film's central themes.

The director, Roman Polanski, layers the traditions of film noir with modern twists of psychological and sexual tension between the film's protagonist, a world-weary private detective (Jack Nicholson), and the enigmatic femme fatale (Faye Dunaway) he tries to protect.
