THE visitors' center in the capital district has been closed for more than a year, and a master plan drafted in 2002 to increase the city's draw as a tourist destination has been largely abandoned. Yet there is hope that the Old Barracks Museum, which shut its doors for two months earlier this year, may emerge as an anchor that can revitalize interest in Trenton's history and increase the city's economy. First, however, the museum itself needs financial help.

City retail takes big jump - Officials hope new Foot Locker will attract more stores
Foot Locker celebrated the grand opening of its store at 31 E. State St. yesterday, but for Trenton officials it was hailed as more than just the ribbon-cutting for a new store. For Taneshia Nash Laird, executive director of the nonprofit Trenton Downtown Association, whose mission is to revitalize Trenton's business district, Foot Locker is a recognized name that they hope may help keep the city's legions of state workers as well as city residents from traveling out of town to a mall.
TDA to Launch 14th Season of Capital City Market With New Organic Farmer, Vendors, Crafters, Music
The 14th season of the Capital City Market will open Thursday, July 12, with an impressive contingent of new participants joining many of the farmers and vendors who have been at the open air market in past years. The 12-week farmers’, gourmet food vendors’, artists’ and crafters’ market takes place on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on East State. St. between Warren and Broad Sts. in downtown Trenton and features different musical entertainment each week.
