Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King's Legacy

Here's a listing of events celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy around downtown and the city:

[Call first. RSVPs were due by 1/12 so space may no longer be available] The Meeting. A powerful drama about the lives, philosophies and times of Martin Luther King and Malcom X. 7 PM. Friday, 1/15. New Jersey State Museum, 205 W. State St., Trenton. Presented by Governor Jon S. Corzine, Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells, Esq., the New Jersey Office of Faith Based Initiatives and The New Jersey Martin Luther King Jr., Commemorative Commission. Rev. Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Prayer Breakfast. Keynote Address by Mayoral Candidate Eric Jackson. Tickets are $10. 9-11 AM. Saturday 1/16. Wayne Avenue Baptist Church, 30 Wayne Avenue, Trenton.

A Celebration of Dr. King's Continued Dream. Presented by Single Mothers for Tony Mack. Keynote Address by Mayoral Candidate Tony Mack. 5-7 PM. Sunday 1/17. Trenton Marriott, 1 W. Lafayette St., Trenton.

MCCC Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration. Mercer County Community College's African American Student Organization invites the community to a celebration of the life and work of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 1-4 PM. Monday, 1/18. Boys of Baraka: Showing and Discussion. Salimah El-Amin, 2009 Emmy Award Winner for her research in “Taxi to the Darkside”, will be leading the discussion on topics related to this documentary and answering questions on the basics of documentary film making. 4:30 PM.
