Downtown Trenton Welcomes Lucky's Lunchbox

New Restaurant on East Front Street Takes Customized Orders to the Next Level

TRENTON, N.J., JULY 19, 2021—How do you like your burger? The chef at Lucky’s Lunchbox on East Front Street in downtown Trenton doesn’t want that to be the easiest question you answer all day. Just the most fun. 

One of downtown Trenton’s newest restaurants, Lucky’s has a friendly and festive vibe matched only by its endlessly creative and flavorful menu items.  “Lucky’s is a welcome addition to downtown Trenton’s emerging restaurant scene that includes so many wonderful places to eat featuring a variety of diverse cuisines,” says Patricia Hall, interim Executive Director, Trenton Downtown Association.

Choose from among an extensive list of specialty burgers that includes waffle burgers, pizza burgers, Hawaiian burgers, BBQ burgers and garbage burgers (a new spin on the popular Rochester, N.Y., dish) or build your own burger, creating a sandwich that’s as simple or as scrumptious as you like!  

The same is true for hot dogs, tater tots and other American-style favorites at Lucky’s. “When you come to Lucky’s, you are getting things you don’t always get at other places, as well as salads, breakfast sandwiches and chicken sandwiches. A lot of people come in just for the salads, while others like to choose from dozens of different toppings for their burgers and hot dogs,” says Tom Battle, who manages the Trenton location of Lucky’s. 

The original Lucky’s, located in Clark, N.J., quickly gained popularity for its carnival-style offerings like onion straws and fried pickles, as well as its creamy milkshakes. “The food here is fun,” says Tom. “When people try us, they come back.”

Lucky's co-owners Damian Walsh and Kelly Holman, who also co-own the Tattoo Asylum II in Lawrence, N.J., felt Trenton was a good location for their second restaurant. “They asked me to run the restaurant because I not only know this business, but I also know this community well, and that was important to them,” adds Tom.
