The Revolutionary Mile Is Coming to Downtown Trenton

Calling all history buffs, fitness enthusiasts and community-minded individuals! Registrations are now open for the Revolutionary Mile, a high-energy, team-building event and historical walk through downtown Trenton on Thursday, October 16, 2025. 

The Revolutionary Mile consists of two signature events: a competitive 1.55-mile run and an educational stroll (or “historic footsteps” walk) on the same course. Both events start at Warren and Front streets and engage participants on a tour of the past that supports the future of New Jersey’s capital city.

• Start time: 5:30 pm (1.55‑mile run), 5:35 pm (Historic Footsteps)
• Check in: 4:30 pm
• Entry fee: $30 through October 14; $35 late registration
• Course: downtown Trenton streets, historical markers, yellow‑umbrella stations

“Participants will experience downtown Trenton like never before, running or walking through our storied cobblestone streets, surrounded by iconic landmarks, some but certainly not all tied to George Washington’s 1776 victory at the Battle of Trenton,” says Tom Rust, Executive Director, Trenton Downtown Association. “It was here in Trenton that the first NBA game was played, where the ratification of the U.S. Constitution was signed and so many more historic events. 

“The yellow umbrellas mark each of these historically significant spots along the route, turning the course into a visually immersive blend of competition and education,” adds Rust.

The Revolutionary Mile is designed to challenge runners as well as delight history lovers with the rich significance of Trenton’s past. It is also an opportunity to support downtown Trenton by bringing more people into the district, and providing them with an instant incentive to spend money downtown.

“The cost to register is only $30 per participant (or $35 after October 14), but we are giving $10 back to every participant to spend at businesses downtown,” says Rust.

“There is so much interesting history and significant architecture in Trenton, not to mention museums and art galleries, wonderful restaurants, cafés, shops and other small businesses,” notes Rust. “This race is a great way to be a part of the energy and revitalization that is happening in downtown Trenton right now.”

Register Your Team: Runners can register for $30 through October 14, 2025, or $35 through the start of the race.

Become a Sponsor: Support the event by becoming a sponsor, contributing to its success and gaining visibility for your business while boosting downtown Trenton.

Make a Tax-Deductible Donation: If you cannot attend but still wish to contribute, you can make a tax-deductible donation to Trenton Downtown Association.
