Tracey’s Kitchen Serves Soul, Seafood & Community in Downtown Trenton

Tracey’s Kitchen has been serving a mouthwatering blend of American and authentic African cuisine at its 241 East Front Street restaurant in downtown Trenton since October 1, 2019. Owned by Trenton native Trachele Johnson, the restaurant has become a popular staple for both local and regional customers, who keep coming back for the mac and cheese, salmon, turkey and other beloved dishes.

Known for its relaxing environment, attentive staff, and convenient location near the New Jersey State House, Tracey’s is open daily (except Mondays) from 12 to 7 pm. Starting in June, Tracey’s Kitchen will also be open on Mondays from 4 to 9 pm, offering a robust All You Can Eat Seafood Night for $75.

Guests will choose from a generous variety of offerings, including lobster, crab legs, corn on the cob, seafood salad, seafood pasta, mac and cheese, potatoes, broccoli and more. There are even plans for live jazz performances by local musicians to round out the evening with good vibes and great music.

“Our goal is for everything to be impeccable,” says Tamica Johnson, who works alongside Trachele. “For Tracey’s Kitchen to be here for six years is truly an honor.”

The restaurant was inspired by and named after Trachele’s late mother Tracey, a cook whose love for food and family laid the foundation for the restaurant. Since her mother’s passing, Trachelle has carried on that legacy, committed to consistency and care—even on the toughest days. “This is a hard business. You have to be respectful, consistent and, most important, show up—even when you’re tired,” Tamica relays, stressing their dedication to excellent customer service as well as delicious food.

Tracey’s Kitchen has attracted loyal customers from as far as Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Manhattan, eager to experience authentic, soul dishes in a friendly atmosphere. With outdoor seating planned, it's becoming a destination not only for locals but for food lovers across the region.

“Trenton is the capital. It’s a great place to be. There’s so much potential here—new businesses opening or reopening, with a lot of room to grow,” Tamica says.

Tracey’s Kitchen is not just a place to eat—it’s a testament to the power of hard work, passion and community pride in the heart of downtown Trenton.
