Ever wondered how the Pinelands came to be such an iconic part of New Jersey identity? Join Joel Mott, Principal Public Programs Specialist with the NJ Pinelands Commission, to discover the Pinelands of today and then step back in time and learn how they evolved from the Pine Barrens of the past.
Joel M. Mott currently leads the Commission’s efforts to raise awareness and understanding of the Pinelands. With experience in both environmental and historical interpretation, his career has comprised a wide range of positions from park ranger to a museum curator. In the past, he has held interpretive and forestry positions at several National Parks, Historic Sites, and Forests including Beaverhead National Forest (MT); Big Hole National Battlefield (MT); Gettysburg National Military Park (PA); and Eisenhower National Historic Site (PA).
